NIDA Business School hosted a research seminar by Tailan Chi from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee  on 21 November 2025.

As tensions grow between the United States and China, the flow of ideas and innovation between the two countries is being reshaped. This paper explores how companies adapt to these political and economic shifts by rethinking how they share and combine knowledge. It looks at how trade barriers, shifting supply chains, and digital restrictions are changing the way firms collaborate and compete. Many multinational companies are finding creative ways to keep innovating—by building local research centers, forming new partnerships, and blending knowledge from different sources. These strategies show that even in a world of rivalry and uncertainty, innovation does not stop; it simply evolves. The study highlights how firms are learning to balance openness and protection, proving that the ability to recombine knowledge is now one of the most powerful tools for resilience in a divided global economy.
